Health Insurance in Idaho: Your Complete 2027 Guide

Idaho is one of the few states that operates its own ACA marketplace — Your Health Idaho — rather than relying on the federal Healthcare.gov. This gives Idaho residents a streamlined enrollment experience and access to all ACA-compliant plans available in the state.

What You Need to Know About Idaho Health Insurance

Idaho's individual market is competitive. Premiums for a 35-year-old nonsmoker in Boise average typically $275–325/month before subsidies. If your household income is between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level, you may qualify for Advanced Premium Tax Credits that substantially reduce your monthly premium.

Source Health Insurance in Idaho

Source Health Insurance plans are in the state licensing process with the Idaho Department of Insurance and are expected to be available to Idaho residents beginning in late 2026. Source Health Insurance will offer two ACA-compliant plans:

  • HDCP (High Deductible Care Plan): 85–89% of your premium builds your IPR.
  • HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan): 85% IPR allocation plus full HSA compatibility and a $100/month wellness benefit.

Both plans include all 10 ACA essential health benefits, the Care Approved Card for self-pay pricing, and competitive variable interest on your IPR balance (currently targeting ~5% APY, not guaranteed).

ACA Subsidies and Source Health Insurance Plans

Source Health Insurance plans are ACA-compliant and will be available through Your Health Idaho for on-marketplace enrollment. If you qualify for an Advanced Premium Tax Credit, the subsidy applies to your Source Health Insurance premium — reducing your out-of-pocket cost while the same percentage of your premium still flows to your IPR.
